Keep learning going.

Today the Mindsets team www.mindsets.com is announcing 2 new innovations to support education and keep learning going during school closures.

First, we are releasing the Open Math Challenge for students to try out real-world self-paced math projects, invite along a friend or collaborate with a family member. For each project, or challenge , students face a multi-step real world problem. To develop a solution, they’ll use design thinking and math to predict, analyze, make recommendations and decisions, often where there is no right or wrong answer. They reason using their math skills.

The Open Math Challenge is open to all families and to teachers seeking cloud based digital learning for their students. Over 70 languages are supported so all students, particularly middle schoolers, will benefit.

There are three challenges launching today, each are open 24/7 and free.

1. Doggy Day Care Challenge. Try your hand at designing a dog walking business. Use ratios & proportional reasoning to figure out which combination of dog walks (shorter or longer ones?) you’d be interested to offer. Check out the local competitors and go on to launch an ad for your business! This is a beginner level project with 11 questions, 3 bonus and 1 poll.
2. Sports Stats Prediction Challenge. Think you know how to predict the winning shots in your favorite game? Immerse yourself in this challenge to hone your ability to predict, manage statistics and data analysis for 3 sports: NBA, hockey & tennis. This is an intermediate level challenge with 13 questions, 1 bonus and 2 polls.
3. Eye Catching Advertising. This one has you leveraging your geometry skills to design angles, parallel lines and shapes for your new ad for a famous sports star. This is an advanced project with 14 questions, 1 poll and 2 bonus.

Second, we are launching Live Classes, these are 1-hour scheduled classes with a Mindsets team member, who will facilitate students through one of the three Challenges, have some fun and answer any question! All classes will start at 12pm noon PDT each day — see schedule at www.mindsets.com

To complement these new free learning programs, parents now have the option of taking out a 3 month membership to the Mindsets Library to create awesome #realworldlearning for students and family during school closures. Every dollar we receive in membership fees goes back into creating more awesome content, building out more collaborative features and solutions for the Mindsets platform.

A note on privacy. As Mindsets has signed state privacy agreements with US school districts, all interactions with students are compliant to the highest levels of privacy and security. We will though be doubling down to ensure all live classes are run safely.
